I'm excited to announce the official website for Ink Bloom. Check it out at http://www.inkbloomadventure.com.

Right now it's just a homepage, but Chris' brother Dan has some great ideas for the site. We'll let you know once it launches.

Also the Ink Bloom blog http://www.hachihachimitsu.blogspot.com has a whole new look. Thanks Dan. It looks sweet.

The layout of the book is coming along nicely. Guy at Impact is doing a fantastic job, and the book should be ready to go to the printer at the end of the month. We're really excited on this end.

Chris and my creation has broken free and started her own Facebook page. Such a precocious youth, although technically she's much older than me.

Scott Purdy [http://www.scottpurdy.net] has started a blog [http://beautifulflesh.blogspot.com/?zx=f3a3abe5b09eae3f] of zombie portraits, and was kind enough to ask me to join. Pop on over to see some really cool and disturbing art.

The pieces that I will be showing on this blog are paintings I am doing to fill a void left by the soul sucking effects of 15 years of freelance illustration. I hope to move these pieces into the lowbrow art scene, and perhaps to put out a book of these images with Scott.
The theme of these paintings, as the title of this post exclaims, is Harajuku Zombies. Harajuku Zombies are a combination of the two great passions of my life. 1) Zombies 2) Japanese pop culture. I want to combine the sickeningly sweet with the just plain sickening. I will also be throwing in all kinds of references to manga and anime, so if you are a fan keep your eyes peeled.

For those off you who do not know, Harajuku is a small area in Tokyo next to the Meiji Shrine. It is the epicenter of Tokyo fashion, and is a gathering place for the youth of Tokyo who show off their style and individuality. If you go there on a Sunday you will see some sights that will really blow your mind.

Hey all,
I'll be teaching a class at Horrorbles, a really awesome horror collectibles store in Berwyn. The theme will be Fantasy, Horror & Zombie Graphic Illustration. It will run on two consecutive Wednesdays starting November 11th, from 7PM to 9PM. The cost is $25 and you have to provide your own materials. If you are interested in checking it out contact me directly or John at Horrorbles. His website is http://www.horrorbles.com

Hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Back from Gen Con. Had a great time seeing friends and fellow artists. I had the great honor of winning 3rd place in the art show for the painting I did for Dark Horse's Knights of the Old Republic #46, which should be out in a couple of months. You can check the piece out in the illustration gallery.

Good friend and Ink Bloom contributor Chris Seaman won the Best In Show honors, which he greatly deserved for all of the kick ass work he's done this year. We also showcased a couple of pieces of art from Ink Bloom, which generated quite a bit of buzz.

It was a great time. Can't wait for next year.

Chris and I will be debuting our first finished Ink Bloom artwork at the Gen Con Art Show this weekend, August 13-16. If you're going to be there stop by the art show and check it out.

Once we're back from the show we will be able to talk more freely about the project on the blog, http://hachihachimitsu.blogspot.com , and give some additional sneak peeks there as well.

Hope to see you there,

Jim

The new issue of Imagine FX is out, and we're all very excited. I had a really great time doing a break down of a female super hero. You can get the magazine at any major bookstore, or check them out online at http://www.imaginefx.com.

I got my first major comic cover. It's a Star Wars cover for Dark Horse. I'm really excited about it, and hope that it leads to more comic work. I'll reveal more as the project gets farther along.

Also, Ink Bloom has been bumped up to 160 pages, and will have a DVD included with it showing Chris drawing. That's a lot of bang for the buck.

Well, my publisher, Impact Books, turned Hell Beasts into an art kit. It comes with pencils, paper, eraser, blending stump, and all kinds of cool stuff. It's really cool, only bad thing is that they neglected to tell me they did it. It wasn't until a friend called and said he saw it at Barnes and Noble that I knew anything about it. So, it's out there, go get it. Here's a link. Hope you like it.

Well, it probably won't be called Ink Bloom when it comes out, but Chris Seaman and I have just had a new how to book approved from our publisher Impact books. The great thing about this book is that it will have its own storyline and characters that Chris and I developed. We will have our own IP, something we worked very long and hard to achieve. The story will feature a teenage Japanese/Chinese girl named Hachi and will take place right after World War II. The story will take Hachi to places throughout the galaxy, and even through time. Through magical tattoos Hachi gains powers, friends, and enemies. I'll stop there because I don't want to give too much away, but it's going to be lots of fun, and a new artistic direction for me. I'll keep you updated as we go. Talks for a comic book based on the story is already under way.

It's been hectic lately, and I've got a ton of really cool gigs I'm working on. I finished up a 4 page monster tutorial for Imagine FX that will be in issue #36. Also, I'm currently working on the Star Wars RPG. It's a childhood dream come true to be working on official Star Wars stuff. Also, Chris Seaman and I are working on another how-to book, this one on Vampires. Pile that on top of Magic cards, covers for White Wolf, Boom! comics, and Goodman Games and you're looking at one busy dude.

Gen Con was about a month ago. I had a blast seeing all of my fellow artists and colleagues. Gen Con is a ton of fun when you don't have to stress out about having a booth, and nobody died of alcohol poisoning, which was surprising to me.

Hey everybody,
I'll be signing Wreaking Havoc in Canton Ohio at the Borders on July 26th with co-autors Chris Seaman and Chuck Lukacs.
Busier than ever over here. Just picked up a new client, Boom! Studios. I'm doing a Warhammer 40K cover for their comic series.
Also got asked by Imagine FX, my favorite art mag out there, to do one of their muti page tutorials on monsters. They gave me so much freedom I almost couldn't figure out what to do, but I think I came up with something cool so keep an eye out for that.
On top of that I've got a Magic card, a White Wolf cover and full page interiors, as well as a huge painting for Goodman Games that is going to be split up over three book covers. That should be a fun challenge to design.
I don't know why I'm even writing this, I should be working
